Fr Loren Gonzales is a priest of the Diocese of Phoenix AZ currently shepherding a parish in Peoria. Fr Gonzales received his MDiv from the Franciscan School of Theology of the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley CA. He was ordained to the presbyterate by the late Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, + Most Rev Carl Fisher. He is a former member of the Order of Friars Servants of Mary (Servites). He has ministered in the Archdioceses of Denver and San Francisco, and the Dioceses of Oakland, Orange, and Tucson, where he has served the people of God as a catechist, campus minister, liturgist, musician, parochial vicar and vocation director. His an advocate of the Reform of the Reform.Two years ago he received faculties from the Bishop of the Diocese of Phoenix, + Most Rev Thomas Olmsted, to celebrate the Classical Liturgy according to the indult Ecclesia Dei. On September 14, 2007 Fr Gonzales celebrated a Missa Cantata in honor of His Holiness’ Motu Propio Summorum Pontificum. He celebrates the usus antiquor regularly. Do you have an unusually large number of babies born to people in your parish?

I read the old rite and wow, what we have lost. Not only in the beauty of the rite, but the loss of context for ourselves.
The minimalist approach of everything modern has truncated our world view. Even speech has been reduced to um.., like, you know. Our vocabulary has been shrunk to the utillitarian, we've killed eloquence. And here is my point, truth and beauty are inextricably linked. If we cannot define and describe beauty, how can beauty illuminate truth? Without proper context, a la the difference in the old and new rites, a meaningful opportunity for grace can become just another cultural phenomenon. Thank you for embracing the Holy Father's vision.
All of the rites side-by-side show what we have lost. It is no wonder the Dictatorship of Relativism reigns supreme in this post-modern world. Press the delete key and minimalism becomes nihilism! Be careful...Satan is cunning.
Wow! That's a lot of Baptisms! i noticed you're in Phoenix..a Miles Jesu friend of mine is there...please pray for him..he hasn't been well..
