Actually, I think the Pope is getting ready to hug a tree.

At the church I attend, there were coupons in the bulletin -- redeemable after Mass --for hugs.

Yikes.

Yuck!

Now, I love, love, LOVE, L-O-V-E hugs -- but not from just anybody. Hugs and affection are a product of real relationships, not a producer of them. Nothing in our faith requires us to submit to violations of reasonable social norms, one of which is that strangers keep their hands to themselves.

Presumptuous stranger cooties: Eeeeeeeewwwwwww!

Certainly he is getting in position to hug a tree. We all need to be concerned about issues of the environment -- libbies/libbys and traddies alike.

Who knows, maybe the Pope is an environmental pundit!

Then again...maybe he is not...
